Tippinators competed in the Moncton stop of the "Golden
Triangle (GT) 2006 Series" speedball tournament held at
Atlantic Xtreme Paintball, Memramcook, New Brunswick on July 15th,
2006. The team managed another seventh place for a respectable
middle of the pack finish for the mil sim airball team in
their first interprovincial tournament and road trip in this
the second of the Atlantic GT series. Unlike the cold rain
endured at the Halifax GT the competitors in this tournament were
pleased to finally play on a perfect day with sun and hot
temperatures.
Twelve 3-man teams and eight 5-man teams in attendance gave
rave reviews to Mike Bourque and his crew at Atlantic Xtreme
Paintball on the pseudo X-Ball field set up which made for a
great day of paintballing.
Once
again the Tippinators took their mil sim Tippmann A-5's up
against an incredibly talented field of players from across
the region in the premier speedball tournament series in
Atlantic Canada. While still not completely accustomed to playing
speedball at the level of the GT Series the team had a better idea
of what to expect from the opposing teams and were able to go
nose to nose with every team in the field. The Tippinators
trade mark hand shakes and play with honor style while still
drawing odd looks and a few comments from the crowd is helping the
team make more friends within the speedball community. During every
tournament more and more teams stopping by the Tippinators
tent to socialize during breaks in play.
The highlight
of the tournament for the team was the play of the
Tippinators youngest player and Tippinators Grey Squad member,
Josh 'Fireball' Boiduk. Fireball showed poise beyond his 13
years during his first regional tournament by standing his
ground, snap shooting like pro and scoring eliminations against his
electro super marker wielding opponents. Win or lose Fireball
was always the first to shake hands and thank the other team
for a great game. With young players like Fireball on the
roster the future of the Tippinators looks bright.
Congratulations to all the winning teams of the Moncton GT. It was a
perfect day for paintball and an opportunity to show your
considerable skills. Good job everyone.
