Three teams took to the mud soaked field at Overkill Sportz, Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia for what all in attendance proclaimed to be, "a fantastic day of paintball".
Shaun Langille the founder and driving force behind the AWL, and captain of the Milsim Maniacs was very happy with the day, "The first AWL event kicked off with a BANG and it was a great day of balling!.... The field was wet and muddy but I think that only made the day all the better."
Langille is using the lessons learned in 2007 to push the league into expanding greatly in 2008. "I would like to thank everyone for their feedback and suggestions will not only let us know how you feel about the league but will also help us to make next year even bigger and better!" Langille said.
Austin "Juno" Flaherty of the Tippinators was impressed with this, the first offering of organized, competitive woodsball in the region, "Playing in a woodsball league with my friends and teammates reminds me why I got into paintball in the first place." Flaherty continued "The event was fun. Easy concept, with a lot of action, we all had a blast."
Official standings after the first event are:
Team | Wins | Loss | Ties | Elim For | Elim Against |
Tippinators | 2 | 0 | 0 | 47 | 26 |
Mersey Mercenaries | 1 | 1 | 0 | 47 | 49 |
Milsim Maniacs | 0 | 2 | 0 | 22 | 41 |
All teams are scheduled to take to the field again on September 15, this time at Mersey Road Paintball, for the second event of the series.
